Rebecca Alcock is the International COVID-19 Engagement Coordinator. She is a doctoral student in the UW–Madison College of Engineering, studying Operations Research and Global Health. In this role, Rebecca coordinates the partnership between UW–Madison, United Nations Development Programme, Engineers Without Borders, and other partners on capacity building and livelihood initiatives in the face of COVID-19 for communities in low- and middle-income countries. Prior to this work, Rebecca received both her BS and MS degrees from UW–Madison’s Department of Biomedical Engineering and obtained certificates in Entrepreneurship and International Engineering (region of focus: Latin America). Her PhD research lies at the intersection of design and the social sciences to tackle global inequality. Rebecca’s primary project involves investigating a novel renewable energy and transportation network for underserved communities in relation to access to local healthcare systems.
